For a 1/1.7-inch sensor, the horizontal angle of view decreases from 49.64° with the 8 mm model to 8.07° with the 50 mm model. Choose 8–12 mm for a wider field of view, 16–25 mm for general inspection, and 35–50 mm for smaller or more distant targets.
2. Can the FP117 Fixed Focal Length Lenses be used with 1/1.8-inch and 1/2-inch sensors?
Yes. The FP117 series supports sensors up to 1/1.7 inch with a 9.4 mm image circle, so it can also cover the smaller 1/1.8-inch and 1/2-inch formats. A smaller sensor produces a narrower field of view at the same focal length.
3. Are the FP117 Fixed Focal Length Lenses suitable for 12 MP cameras with 1.85 μm pixels?
Yes. The series is specified for resolutions up to 12 MP and pixel sizes down to 1.85 μm, with optical resolution up to 270 line pairs per millimeter. Final image detail also depends on focusing, aperture, lighting and camera settings.
4. Which FP117 Fixed Focal Length Lenses can focus at a working distance below 100 mm?
The FP117-0828 8 mm model has a specified minimum working distance of 75 mm and is the only model in the series listed below 100 mm. The other focal-length options require a minimum working distance of at least 110 mm.
5. Which FP117 Fixed Focal Length Lenses have the lowest specified TV distortion?
The 50 mm FP117-5028 has the lowest listed TV distortion at below 0.03%. The 35 mm model is below 0.05%, while the 16 mm model is below 0.06%. These models are suitable starting points when measurement accuracy and geometric consistency are important.
6. Can optical filters be installed on the FP117 Fixed Focal Length Lenses?
